General Manager Position Available
Position Summary:
The General Manager is responsible for the day to day operations of hotel.
The General Manager must possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and demonstrate strong leadership. They are organized, able to delegate responsibilities and establish priorities consistent with Providence Place objectives. They are able to handle a variety of personalities and situations, including emergencies, in a calm professional manner.
Computer and office procedure experience required. Simply Accounting experience an asset.
Works with:
a) Maintenance, Housekeeping, and Accommodations Supervisor to discuss concerns, set priorities and ensure workplace safety and standards are being met.
b) Operating Committee regarding business matters outside of regular operations.
c) Interacts with PHCF Housing Committee regarding housing assistance intake and room assignments
Reports to: Operating Committee & Pastor
Hotel Management:
- Work regular shifts at the front desk
- Promote and market the business
- Address problems and troubleshoot
- Monitor supply orders and inventory levels
- Ensure security is effective
- Carry out room and property inspections and report hazards, repairs, and improvements to appropriate department (eg. Maintenance, Housekeeping)
- Investigate and respond to tenant/customer complaints and comments
- Ensure compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations
- Become familiar with hotel tenancy acts
- Interacts with PHCF Housing Committee regarding intake and room assignments
Financial Management:
· Monitor and collect outstanding receivables
· Prepare day-end reports, deposits, petty cash, etc.
· Monitor spending
· Set room rates
· Set and manage annual budget and financial plans
Human Resource:
· Recruit, train and monitor staff
· Ensure that job descriptions are in place
· Organize staff training opportunities
· Prepare notices and advertisements for vacant staff positions
· Review and approve time sheets
· Staff scheduling for front desk
· Maintain employee files
Other:
· Ongoing maintenance of policies and procedures manual
· Maintain statistical records in regards to accommodations/housing
· Represents Providence Place while building relationships with community resources
